Biography
Kenneth Michael Stabler (December 25, 1945 – July 8, 2015) was an American professional football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 17 seasons, primarily with the Oakland Raiders. Nicknamed "Snake", he played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide, earning first-team All-American honors in 1967. Stabler was selected by the Raiders in the second round of the 1968 NFL/AFL draft.
During his 10 seasons in Oakland, Stabler was named Most Valuable Player in 1974 after leading the league in passing touchdowns. He also received four Pro Bowl selections and one first-team All-Pro selection while leading the league twice in both passing touchdowns and completion percentage and once in passer rating. His most successful season was in 1976 when he helped the Raiders win their first Super Bowl title in Super Bowl XI. He was posthumously inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016.
